Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available to participants who can demonstrate that they already possess current skills and knowledge relevant to the qualification. Making an RPL application requires you to complete an enrolment form and then provide evidence substantiating your claim for competency. Suggested evidence and the process for obtaining RPL is described in The Pivot Institute RPL Kit which will be provided to you upon enrolment.

A pivot trainer and assessor will conduct an RPL interview with you to determine if you possess vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing areas. Vocational competency is broad industry knowledge and experiences which may include holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification, or extensive experience in the field.

If you are eligible to undertake this qualification through RPL you will be provided with an RPL kit for the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Asssessment.

ELECTIVE Unit (1)TAEDEL301 Provide work skill instruction

After reviewing the submitted evidence, a Pivot trainer and assessor will contact the participant with advice about whether or not the evidence satisfies the assessment requirements for each of the Units of Competency included in the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. If the provided evidence is sufficient, authentic, current and valid then the applicant will not be required to undertake any further training or assessment prior to issuance.

How can my experience and previous qualifications be used through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

The RPL pathway is available for candidates who want to pursue this option. This would involve an initial interview, a self-assessment, completion of an RPL Application plus submission of sufficient evidence to meet all the requirements of the relevant units of competency.
