Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses your non-formal and formal learning to determine how your current skills and knowledge match the competency outcomes for partial or full qualification. RPL assessment at The Pivot Institute allows you to evidence your skills and knowledge through the completion of an RPL kit.
Participants need to attend zoom sessions with a live trainer on specific dates scheduled for each course. These dates are mentioned in the course calendar section of each course. Participants can start the course anytime and will be required to book in and attend sessions via Zoom. Zoom sessions can be booked by emailing trainer or calling 1300 354 309.

Mine courses are only available to participants working on a suitable site. We only offer mine training onsite in partnership with mine sites.

– Start up cost for establishment includes:
-trainer and assessor registration
-provision of relevant learning materials, trainer and assessor guidelines, assessment material for each unit
-registration with the national regulator
-virtual site visit
– Following establishment, each Statement of Attainment will be charged per person.
If company is short on time for training , all mine programs are available online via our Pivot Online Learning System (POLS). Your participants can undertake their theory component online however they will still require practical training and assessment in the mine site. You need to pay cost per participant to access POLS.
If you are not working in training and assessment, it is highly recommended that you attend course using facilitated virtual delivery mode.
You can still do Certificate IV in Training and Assessment if you don’t work as trainer and assessor, however you must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as; ‘broad industry knowledge and experience and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification’.
Participants must have access to a workplace or realistic simulated environment to complete the assessments. Strong literacy and numeracy skills are required. Participants must also have access to a computer with a reliable and stable internet connection for virtual delivery.
The duration of TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course is 12-18 months.
The average time it takes to complete varies significantly depending on the skills and knowledge you already hold relevant to training and assessment. If, for example, you are attending the facilitated classes and you have completed the relevant activities, you will still need to allow the following suggested time to complete the qualification.
4 hours a week – 18 months
6 hours a week – 12 months
Experience in the VET sector in training and assessment can greatly lower the amount of time required to successfully complete the qualification.
